Introduction [0:00 - 2:00]

Welcome to lesson two of the Culture Cure course. In our previous lesson, we explored retention. Today, we're diving deeper into one of retention's most critical foundations: employee wellbeing. When people feel physically, mentally, and emotionally supported at work, everything else follows - engagement, productivity, innovation, and yes, retention.

The Wellbeing Crisis [2:00 - 5:30]

Let's start with some sobering statistics. Burnout rates have reached epidemic proportions, with over 75% of employees reporting feeling overwhelmed at work. The cost to organizations is staggering - not just in healthcare premiums and sick days, but in the hidden costs of presenteeism, where physically present employees are mentally and emotionally checked out.

Beyond Work-Life Balance [5:30 - 9:00]

Here's where many organizations get it wrong. They think wellbeing is about offering yoga classes or ping pong tables. While perks can be nice, real wellbeing is about fundamental respect for people as whole human beings. It's about workload management, clear boundaries, psychological safety, and genuine care for people's lives outside of work.

Building a Wellbeing-Centered Culture [9:00 - 14:30]

So how do we build a culture that truly supports wellbeing? It starts with leadership modeling. When leaders take vacation, respect boundaries, and openly discuss mental health, it gives everyone permission to prioritize their wellbeing. We'll explore specific strategies for creating policies and practices that support sustainable performance rather than burnout culture.

Practical Implementation [14:30 - 18:00]

In this lesson, you'll learn how to assess your current wellbeing culture, identify the highest-impact interventions for your specific context, and create a wellbeing strategy that actually moves the needle. From designing better meeting cultures to implementing effective workload management systems, you'll leave with concrete tools you can use immediately.
